“Samantha was a pleasure to work with. I was a challenge and she was very patient and made the experience fun. She listened to every detail I wanted and implemented them promptly and professionally. She offered improvements that were even better than my own vision. She's very knowledgeable and skilled. I loved working with Samantha and look forward to working with her in the future. I won't go to anybody else now!”
Tanya Lynch
For those of you who know me, you’re going to notice that this, yes, was created for my biggest supporter and cheerleader — my mom, Tanya.
Now that we admitted that, let’s get to why she chose me over everyone else.
One: she wanted to help me get started and build my portfolio.
Two: She knew that she would be in great hands.
The Challenge: Make genealogy look cool
After reviewing the corporate looks genealogy has been presented as for many years; I wanted to make genealogy feel warm and cozy for Tanya’s clients. I wanted to make it feel familiar to those seeking for ancestry help. After all, research like this can bring families together, sometimes closer, and depending on the information found, it can become personal. I thought, 'there doesn’t need to be another corporation feel, but that how she cares, loves, and educates her clients should be visually represented.”
I also wanted to make sure that genealogy would be receptive to a younger clientele also. Genealogy is cool and I wanted to help Tanya make it look cool.
So, we created a whimsical logo — stating it was ancestry but youthful. We chose cobalt blue and a golden yellow for trustworthiness and happiness. I found stock images that felt fresh and homey. Then found some graphics that fit perfectly with the aesthetics of the website design. I ensured that the typography fit both her target audiences groups…… and she became very happy.
This site is built with Wix and Tanya has since moved onto bigger needs for her business and clientele goals since the time this was made.
